From 2009 to 2015, Andrew Schuricht served as the Chief Financial Officer of Three Square, the Feeding America food bank serving Southern Nevada. As CFO, he was responsible for all aspects of strategy, finance, information technology and human resources. Three Square was the fastest growing food bank in the Feeding America network five years running, and currently, brings in $62 million in annual revenue and feeds more than 137,000 children, families, and seniors every month.Andrew also developed the curriculum for and teaches Social

  • President Michael Gordon called the meeting to order.
  • Francesca Gilbert gave the invocation. Sidra Kain led the club in singing the National Anthem. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and the Sergeant-at-Arms was Dan Adamson.
  • There were (1) International Rotarian, (1) Visiting Rotarians, and (3) Guests of Rotarians that were introduced.
  • The drawing began at $500.00 plus this week’s donations. The winner gets half the pot and half goes to the Las Vegas Rotary Foundation. Ticket Winner: President Elect Jim Kohl who won $10!  Lawry Bucks Winner: Ryan Hamilton.
  • Katy Decker introduced (3) of her teachers, Angie Slayton, Leslie Straul and Jamie Pappechek. Katy also announced that Bracken is performing at 92% proficiency for literacy!
  • Past President Tom Axtel shared that Rotary night at the PBS telethon, a total of $33,555 was raised!
  • Jaime Goldsmith presented a check for $377.77 towards the canned food drive. The money was raised at the Star Trek Convention.
  • Past President Tom Krob reminded the club that there is a Cigar Fellowship on September 8, 2017, at Past President Randy Donald’s home.
  • Past President Steve Linder presented Paul Harris Fellowships to the following Rotarians: Rodney Tucker, Toni Kern, Francesca Gilbert and John Ingeme.
  • Past President Tom Thomas presented his daughter’s, Lane and Jillian, with Paul Harris Fellowships.
  • Dr. Michael Williams presented a new concept for the Spread the Word mentor program. They are now allowing mentors to split their duties with a partner to encourage more people to be mentors. This will cut the number of meetings in half for each mentor.
  • Sidra Kain introduced the speaker, Noah Hoefs. Noah gave a presentation Hyperloop-One, a new mode of transportation. The Hyperloop-One runs off renewable electric energy and functions on electromagnetic propulsion and passive magnetic levitation to create the world’s fast mode of transportation. The facility is located in North Las Vegas and is currently running tests on a prototype. The company’s goal is to connect the world and make transportation faster and more efficient.
  • President Michael Gordon presented the speaker with a “Sole Power” award and adjourned the meeting.
