Tom was born in Windsor Ontario Canada. One of seven children, he moved with his parents to Las Vegas. Tom graduated from UNLV with a degree in Accounting. After graduation, he obtained a CPA license to practice public accounting in California and Nevada.

Tom has been active in community service as a UNLV ALUMNI DIRECTOR for ten years and PRESIDENT of that organization for three of those years. He also was a Board Member for SPECIAL OLYMPICS and CRIME WATCH. Since joining ROTARY twenty-five years ago, he has served as DISTRICT TREASURER and CLUB TREASURER
