Richard Jost

President

Richard recently retired after over 40 years practicing law in New York and in Nevada. Most recently, Richard taught a law school class on Privacy and Autonomous Vehicles at the UNLV Boyd Law School. In addition to public service in the United States Navy, Elko County, NV, District Attorney’s Office and in the Nevada Attorney General’s Office, he spent much of his professional career as a partner in one of Nevada’s most prominent law firms. The firm name evolved over the years, but the main focus of his practice remained large tax advantaged projects and real estate-based financings. During that time, at the request of the Governor, Richard also was a part of the team that formed and managed for over 10 years the professional liability insurance company that helped keep medical doctors in Nevada and hospital emergency rooms open. He also formed the Nevada institute that brought an FAA designated drone test site to Nevada and was the general counsel during its early years. In other not for profit work, Richard has been the first Vice President of the Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow for over a decade and previously served on this Rotary Club’s Board of Directors from 2003-2011. He is the lucky husband of Sally Jost, for more than 47 years, the proud father of a daughter and a son who are each bright and successful, the grandfather of six incredible grandchildren, and the friend and playmate of Buddy, the family golden retriever.
